Wherever I travel, there is a common phrase that I hear people use when they talk about their plans to get away for a few days. They'll say, "I'm goin' to the lake" without ever having to mention the name.
Where I come from, "Goin' to the lake" means Lake Erie, The Lake Erie Islands, and Put-in-Bay.
The phrase usually strikes concern and fear in the hearts of those you're leaving behind because they know you're gonna' be having so much fun....you just might not come back at all!
