DOG TALES NEWS AND NOTES
Hi Folks
I hope that the New Year has started off well for you and that 2010 finds you healthy and in good spirits. Me, I'm getting cabin fever! I'm ready to get outta' dodge....it's time for a ROAD TRIP!!
So, we're getting ready to start up our tour schedule once again. The 2010 show dates from now through Oct. are currently posted on the schedule page so take a peek and see if you can hook-up with us somewhere down the line.
We had a great time in Dec. and early Jan. and I would like to thank our good friends Paul & Shirley Nemoga in Frederick, Maryland, the folks from Star Chevrolet in Greensburg Pa., Giddy-up Dave and his crew in Mansfield, Oh. and Duff Spatafore and the Put-in-Bay Bar gang in Lakewood, Oh. for hosting some very fun shows that helped to make the holidays special.
Every day above ground may be a good day but there are days that try a man's soul. Coconut Pomps and I did have a hell of a time getting from the Frederick, Md show to the Greensburg, Pa. show due to a vicious snowstorm that shut down the east coast. All I can say is that after seven hours of white-knuckle driving in blizzard conditions at sometimes only 15-20 mph along treacherous ice-covered roads we finally made it just in time to set up, sound check, and find a hotel. Long day, but the folks at the show certainly made up for it. Thanks!
At The Den in Mansfield our genial host Giddy-up Dave pretty much had us partying before, during and after the show. This may end up being a yearly event. Giddy-up!!
And, my birthday show Jan. 17 was a fun bash at Put-in-Bay Lakewood where some of my friends turned out for my 54th. Thanks so much for the cards and the gifts.
It was a breeze as we made a special appearance and had a lot of laughs at the Mid-America Boat Show in Cleveland, Oh. with Alex Bevan, Ray Fogg & West Side Steve along with many PIB regulars in attendance. I don't know how many boats were sold at the show that night but I'm pretty sure that bar & beverage sales were way up!

Afterwards I was hanging out backstage with Twiggy the water skiing squirrel and he said that this may be his last gig. After a couple beers he complained that "Ya, gotta' be nuts to water ski at my age! I have to do too many shows a day. I just want to retire to a nice cypress tree condo and work on my swamp buggy." At least that's what I thought he said to me.

We have a couple of shows here up north before we head south.
We hope to see you at Clamdiggers Big Digger Jan 31st Sunday afternoon @ 4:00pm in Monroe, Mi. for our annual "winter-on-the River Raisin Hell" party with Glen Shannon and his crew.
Clamdiggers, which has the absolute best pizza in the Monroe, Mi. area, sits right on what is called The River Raisin which empties into Lake Erie. It should be all frozen-up right about now.
And, of course, Mr. Ed's Super Bowl weekend party Feb, 6 & 7 in Port Clinton, Oh.

I'll be doing my one-man show on Sat night and on Sunday afternoon leading up to the big game we have the return of my back-up band Electric Walleye (now accepting better names for the band!) There will also be a Super Bowl buffet, game boards, and surprises.
We're looking forward to seeing everyone again as my assistant, Tim ("Coconut Pomps"), and I wind our way down south for some gigs in the Florida Keys, Jamaica and mainland Florida.
We'll be appearing at Sloppy Joes in Key West Feb 11, 12 & 13 for Put-in-Bay Music fest along with Pat Daley, Pete & Wayne, Ray Fogg & Bob Gatewood
Mon. Feb 15 I'll be making a special appearance at the Looe Key Tiki Bar along with Terry Cassidy and Alex Bevan
Fri. & Sat. Feb. 19 & 20 on Islamorada @ Zigge and Mad Dog's
Feb 21-28 is our Jammin' in Jamaica trip with our group to Sandal's resort in Montego Bay. We are all filled up for this trip so keep in mind to reserve early for wherever we go next year!
After that it's St. Petes' Beach and the Coconuts Comedy Club at the Sandpiper Resort Feb 3-6. Then, finally, it's back north for shows in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana building up to another season at The Round House Bar and Put-in-Bay.
I hope we can see you at one of the shows sometime this year for a few songs, laughs, ziggy zaggies, conch-blowin', chicken-chokin' and some bar room "phisofolizing".

So everybody, stay safe in your travels and, please don't forget to take care of your waiters, waitresses, barmaids, valets, doormen etc. Many of these folks are taking a big hit in this economy and would really appreciate a little something in exchange for good service.
